A lot of times Outlook rot is caused by steadily corrupting data files. However, since you aren't Exchange based you just can't nuke them and reload.

Any errors in the event log? Have you done any testing to see if this behaviour happens with only one user connected? Anything else running on the box? I have outlook running on R2 RDS without issue so it is not likely an issue with the software being out of date. Try removing the files that have MAPI as the name and outlook will rebuild those files. I have issues with Microsoft Office 32 bit running on Win 10 64 bit and often crashed due to corrupt files or if a users email crashes, the MAPI files are the culprit.

Under the compatibility tab uncheck "run as administrator". Please exit Outlook client before renaming the hive. It appears that when the new version of Windows 10 is installed it removes the association that Outlook is the default MAPI client. When the DLLs are deleted and Outlook is opened it runs through a quick install process and rebuilds the files.

There is no Exchange server. I will try these suggestions Vito when I have exclusive control of the environment.

It doesn't have anything to do with the actual fix of repairing the mapi and registry files, right? That is correct, just take a backup in case it goes hairy on you. I have yet to have a problem after the fix. Additionally, I have found rebuilding the user Windows profile fixes the issue as well. OffCat now gives me a clean bill of health so I will just have to wait a couple of days to see how Outlook behaves [what a pain intermittent faults are].

I will also install the new OffCat version on my other two computers - if OffCat gives them a clean bill of health straightaway then that would be consistent with those updates being the cause of the problem as the problem has not appeared on those other computers.

If the problem returns then my gut feeling is that I need to consider the add-ins next and then the Outlook profile. Well, removing KB appeared to fix the problem for about a week then started to crash again. I then just removed MS Office altogether deleted all files and folders manually I then updated Office no issues for a couple of day's and again for some reason started crashing again after a few minutes.

I ran OffCat and it tells me that every time zone is wrong in the registry in all languages. Which the only language I use is English.

I have not installed any languages in the updates either. To fix it Which is not my product OffCat also told me that Office is no longer supported to upgrade to at least But from what I understand all of Outlook from crashes. So I'm not spending money on a broken machine!!! Dam I hate MS Next computer is an Apple!!!

The problem continues intermittently as it did before. It happens at least once a day. I'll have to play around and then post a question of my own if I find enough hard information to base any question on. It has been consistently failing within a few seconds of starting so I suspect that our problems are not related [you referred to a few minutes rather than seconds ].

I ploughed through the results for a mere four hours or so and found that the two sets of results differed markedly whilst Outlook was syncing RSS feeds.

I am going to let things run for a week before I feel confident that I have truly identified the cause. It certainly looks good so far - over a dozen Outlook starts without a single failure. I missed your last post as we were both posting at the same time. I seem to have had a simpler time with OffCat than you. Please let me know if there are any comparative tests I could run to help you.

I am keen to fix Outlook because I intend to run Office on beyond the end of support date. Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community. Search the community and support articles Outlook Outlook.
